These
drawings of MJH were a "study" created by artist Bria Bancroft in early
1966, done at the Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs, New York. MJH was staying at
our house for a week while he played Club 47 earlier that month. I was with him
and Dick Waterman, his manager/agent, for that last show here, and Mr. Waterman
has already stated that one of the last shows he did with MJH was at the Caffe
Lena, and I know he was at Oberlin on April 15, 1966. The next month, I called
MJH at his home in Grenada when he failed to appear at a coffeehouse on Cape
Cod (Turk's Head). MJH told me, "Freddie, I been sick."
